When people have discovered her vintage and "Hollywood golden age" style, they first criticized her : they said she was trying to copy the 60's icons. She only answered she would never have that pretension , and had only always been fascinated by the feeling of happiness that emanates from this decade. She said she just wanted to be happy. 
According to the critics, her main influences are Nirvana, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Bob Dylan, and many others such as Nina Simone, or Amy Winehouse. That is why we can ear in Lana's songs this inspiration, we can hear a mix of soul, rock, hip-hop and Indie. She also freely uses the universes of James Dean, Marilyn Monroe or John Wayne.
A Special voice
The voice of Lana can cover a lot of different tones. When she sings, she is captivating, emoting and sometimes even hypnotizing. What is impressive is that she succeeds in mixing low notes and a little girl's voice. However, her voice is really discussed. Some critics say she can't sing as other say she's a genius. In our opinion, she is an amazing singer, but definitely not a genius. What make her amazing is the combination of style and voice.
Inspirational
A lot of her songs have been used as bases for remixes, especially "Summertime Sadness". This song is a huge hit, and the video was watched more than 200 870 000 times on YouTube.
After this video was posted, a lot of remixes showed up. One of the most famous, Cedric Gervais's, is part of the album "Born to die".
An Icon
All her vintage attitude makes her a real Icon. Indeed, the 60's are really fashionable nowadays. One of the special touches is that some albums were released as vinyls, a must-have !
